Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Mechanical Architecture Engineer to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will perform a wide range of tasks within the Engineering Department. The position is based in Pistoia, Italy.

Accountabilities
  • Define train architecture and transversal performances (weight, gauge, ergonomics).
  • Draft and manage technical specifications, ensuring stakeholder alignment.
  • Develop and maintain layout designs for vehicle seating in compliance with standards.
  • Monitor project KPIs and evaluate design constraints related to Sub-System Breakdown Structure activities.
  • Lead structural engineering activities, including co-design and welding of carbody components.
  • Define mechanical interfaces of the carbody shell and related sub-systems.
  • Manage requirements using tools like DOORS.
Required Skills/Knowledge
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience in complex railway projects.
  • Knowledge of standards and regulations for rail vehicle design.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (Autodesk, CREO 11).
  • Experience with requirements management tools (preferably DOORS).
  • Basic knowledge of electrics and mechanics.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge of mechanical design software (AutoCAD, Creo, Catia).
  • Understanding of engineering processes and railway operations.
  • Ability to work effectively at all organizational levels and contribute constructively.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for short-term assignments.
