Job Overview

The Senior IT & System Operations Engineer supports the activities of the Systems Operations team by managing the company’s IT infrastructure end to end. This includes deploying, monitoring and maintaining networks and system architectures, as well as troubleshooting and resolving errors or inefficiencies to ensure all systems run smoothly and reliably.

The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to help define system requirements and actively contributing to the training and knowledge transfer for junior engineers and technicians, fostering their technical development.

What You'll Do

The main responsibilities of this role are:

  • Maintain back and front-end applications, and in identifying and fixing issues that impact systems infrastructure and QoS
  • Support Manager in developing a structured framework to determine potential inefficiencies and problems based on the analysis of network data and infrastructure
  • Take part in the exchanges with the management team for the assessment and definition of the systems requirements
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring and maintaining of network architecture and computer systems infrastructure, and the deployment and maintaining of automation tools
  • Provide training and knowledge exchange for junior system engineers and technicians
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer engineering, computer science or mathematics
  • Experience of at least 3 years in a similar role, with focus technical troubleshooting. Preference for candidates having covered a similar role in the telecommunications industry
  • Detail-oriented with good interpersonal and personal effectiveness skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Capability to work under intense pressure, and problem-solving skills
  • High degree of commitment and diligence
  • Good knowledge of Linux, Windows and Virtualization Environment (VMWare, KVM, AWS, Azure)
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, and related concepts (DNS, DHCP, LDAP, HTTP, NTP)
  • Knowledge of SAN and Fiber channel network management
  • Knowledge of SQL and XML languages, shell scripting, Java and Python
  • Knowledge of backup systems such as Veeam or Bacula
  • Experience with oriented programming and system integration
  • Excellent written and oral skills in English, French is an asset
Where You'll Be

Turin or Cagliari, Italy. This role includes on-call rotations.
