Job summary

Alpitronic, based in South Tyrol, Italy, seeks a Plastic Design Engineer to lead the design and development of complex plastic components for injection molding in Italy. You will create 3D CAD models, define DFM/DFA concepts, select materials, and collaborate with mold makers.

You will work with cross-functional teams on prototyping, testing, validation, and cost optimization, mentoring juniors, and driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Design plastic components and assemblies for injection molding.
• Create 3D CAD models and drawings per project specs.
• Apply DFM/DFA principles to design decisions.
• Select plastics materials and define tolerances.
• Collaborate with tooling suppliers and mold makers.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex plastic components and assemblies for injection molding.
• Create 3D CAD models and technical drawings.
• Define plastic design concepts according to DFM and DFA principles.
• Select suitable plastic materials and define dimensional tolerances.
• Collaborate with tooling suppliers and mold manufacturers during mold design, qualification, and ramp-up phases.
• Support prototyping, testing, validation activities, and root-cause analyses.
• Review and optimize designs for quality, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing.
