Candidates must have experience in enterprise environments, Linux servers, and be capable of handling critical infrastructure tasks. The position offers a hybrid work model, blending office and remote work, and is ideal for professionals familiar with regulated sectors.

Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Virtualizzazione & Datacenter @ Fineco Bank

Fineco Bank is a leading European bank with 20 years of history and fully digital DNA, operating branchlessly. We offer a comprehensive suite covering trading, investment and payment services through a proprietary platform. We also provide banking and payment solutions for domestic and international customers.

We are expanding the "Enterprise Systems and Architectures" team and seeking a Senior Engineer with proven experience in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and mission‑critical datacenter environments.

Responsibilities

• VCF Lifecycle & Operations: advanced administration of workload domain, lifecycle manager, update bundle, interoperability checks, end‑to‑end updates.
• vSphere/ESXi: host configuration, distributed networking, affinity/anti‑affinity rules, resource tuning, L2/L3 performance troubleshooting.
• vSAN (OSA/ESA): performance analysis, fault domain configuration, policy‑based management, remediation, capacity planning.
• VxRail Operations: cluster management, lifecycle management, health checks, log bundle analysis, integration with VCF.
• Automation & Scripting: develop PowerCLI, Bash or Python scripts for automation, metric extraction, workflow orchestration.
• Monitoring & RCA: log analysis, telemetry review, metric interpretation with enterprise monitoring tools; RCA and incident management.
• Security & Hardening: access management, certificate administration, operational compliance, application of VMware hardening baselines per company policy.

Requirements

• Strong experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, vSphere, ESXi and vSAN (OSA/ESA).
• Excellent command of Linux servers (RHEL/CentOS or equivalents) with hardening tools such as OpenSCAP / CIS Benchmark.
• Deep knowledge of hyper‑converged infrastructures.
• Experience with enterprise storage platforms and Fibre‑Channel SAN architectures (Brocade zoning, multipathing).
• Experience with enterprise monitoring, logging and telemetry platforms.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLAN, routing, firewall, security).
• Ability to plan and execute updates and patching in structured environments, with willingness to work outside normal hours when required.
• Prior experience in regulated enterprise contexts (e.g., banking, insurance, telco) and ability to work effectively under pressure, collaborating with teams and cross‑functional groups.

Nice to Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Certifications such as VCP‑DCV / VCAP, Brocade, Red Hat Linux (RHCSA / RHCE / RHCA).
• Experience with advanced automation technologies via PowerCLI, Python, VMware vRealize Automation (vRA), Ansible.
