A leading multinational healthcare company is expanding its R&D department and seeking a Senior HW System Engineer with a strong background in hardware design and extensive experience in technical system development and requirements management. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to drive innovation in cutting-edge medical display technologies.
The Opportunity
As a Senior HW System Engineer, you'll be instrumental in the development of high-end medical display systems. This includes both hands-on hardware design and technical system development, as well as crucial technical requirements management with suppliers and customers. You'll work within a dynamic R&D team, contributing to products that directly impact healthcare.
Your Responsibilities
- Product Hardware Development: Driving the hardware development of medical display products, starting from customer specifications and ensuring adherence to project timelines.
- High-Definition Video Processing Platforms: Leading the development and maintenance of high-definition video processing platforms, from initial concept definition through to product testing.
- Component Selection & Validation: Overseeing the selection and validation of suitable SoC/FPGA solutions, display modules, and power conversion solutions.
- Testing & Verification: Defining and executing comprehensive tests for the verification and validation of functional and front-of-screen performance.
- Technical Documentation: Preparing and maintaining thorough technical product documentation.
- Specification Transfer: Ensuring smooth transfer of specifications and tools to the Production Engineering department.
- Project Maintenance: Managing ongoing projects in accordance with allotted timelines.
- Supplier & Customer Interface: Interfacing directly with suppliers and customers to manage complex technical requirements, supported by the NPI office.
- Innovation & Optimization: Actively promoting and developing new ideas, concepts, and methodologies to optimize and evolve company products and services.
Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a hardware engineer with an MSc degree in Electronic Engineering or Physics (or an equivalent qualification) and 10-15 years of proven experience in HW design, coupled with a demonstrated ability to excel in a system-focused role. Preferred skills and experiences include:
- Hardware development and platform system engineering.
- CAE programs for schematic entry (Mentor Graphics preferred).
- Excellent product debugging capabilities and problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of EMC, Power, and Signal Integrity principles and associated hardware design.
- Strong knowledge of High-Speed Signal design and measurements.
- Familiarity with interfaces such as PWM, I2C, SPI, RS232, USB.
- Good knowledge of image processing techniques, video connectivity standards; knowledge of optics is considered a plus.
- Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation (DMM, Oscilloscope, Welder, etc.).
- Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Italian is required.
