Job summary

Topcon Positioning Group in Concordia sulla Secchia, Modena, Italy, is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our embedded software team. You will work on GNSS receiver products used in construction, geomatics, and agriculture.

Responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and maintaining embedded software, optimizing performance, and integrating firmware with hardware and RTK/PPP/CSSR services. Strong C/C++ and Linux experience required; English proficient.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related technical field.
• 5+ years of embedded software or firmware development.
• Strong C/C++ and CMake expertise, incl. modern standards.
• Experience with embedded Linux, networking, multithreading, and RTOS.
• Python scripting for automation and testing.
• GNSS experience (RTK/PPP/CSSR) is desirable.
• Good English and ability to work in international teams.

• Develop high-performance C/C++ software including Linux services and hardware interfaces.

Senior Firmware Engineer

Topcon Positioning Group is looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our team in Concordia sulla Secchia, Modena. This is an opportunity to work on advanced embedded software and firmware for GNSS receiver products used in construction, Geomatics, and agriculture technologies worldwide.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software and firmware components for GNSS receiver products.


• Develop reliable, high-performance C/C++ software, including embedded Linux services, networking components, and hardware interfaces.


• Modernize legacy code into modular, maintainable, and testable architectures.


• Integrate firmware with hardware, operating systems, GNSS technologies, and correction services such as RTK, PPP, and CSSR.


• Optimize performance, scalability, resource utilization, and reliability across hardware targets.


• Debug complex software, system, and integration issues using advanced diagnostic and simulation tools.


• Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD workflows, documentation, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.

What we are looking for

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.


• 5+ years of experience in embedded software or firmware development.


• Strong C/C++ and CMake expertise, including modern C++ standards.


• Solid experience with embedded Linux, system APIs, networking, multithreading, kernel interaction, and real-time operating systems.


• Experience with hardware/software integration, debugging, performance optimization, software architecture, and legacy code modernization.


• Knowledge of Python for scripting, automation, and testing.


• GNSS experience, including RTK, PPP, or CSSR, is highly desirable.


• Intermediate or higher English proficiency and ability to work in international engineering environments.

Working model and benefits

• Hybrid working arrangement: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.


• Competitive salary package: €55,000–€65,000 gross annual salary, based on skills and experience.
