Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead engineering design and coordinate on-site installation through to commissioning on Italian projects. You will work with a vibrant, agile team delivering high-quality electrical solutions for complex construction projects.

The role requires a 3rd level Electrical Engineering qualification, 7+ years’ experience in building services or data centre environments, and proficiency with Amtech, Dialux, AutoCAD 2D, Adobe Pro and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 3rd level qualification in Electrical Engineering / Building Services Engineering.
• 7+ years of project engineering experience in a construction environment.
• Experience with LV and MV systems in building services and data centre settings.
• Experience with Amtech, Dialux, Adobe Pro, AutoCAD 2D and MS Office Suite.
• Knowledge of current design guides, codes of practice (IEC/BS7671), Building Regulations and EN/IEC Standards.
• Experience in client, vendor and contractor interaction and management.
• Commercial awareness and ability to deliver electrical projects from concept to handover.

Responsibilities

• Lead Engineering Design and Design Management tasks on Projects as part of an integrated project team.
• Coordinate technical design with the onsite installation through to commissioning.
• Review electrical design to identify gaps and deviations or contradictions with specifications.
• Compile and manage electrical submittals, procurement tracking and testing documentation.
• Provide technical support to estimating, procurement, commercial, marketing and project bid teams.

Role Purpose

As Electrical Engineer based in Italy you will be responsible for the engineering activities on a specific construction project. The activities associated with the project will vary and will be agreed with the Project Manager on an ongoing basis. You will co-ordinate the technical design with the onsite installation through to the successful commissioning ensuring that the Kirby Group vision, mission & values are fulfilled.

Electrical Engineer Responsibilities

In conjunction with your project team, you will be responsible for the execution of various stages of a project as follows:

• Complete electrical design review to identify design gaps and deviations or contradictions in the specifications.
• Validate cable sizing and make recommendations as appropriate.
• Ensure that technical assessments are completed as required and technical issues are resolved without delay.
• Compile and issue electrical technical submittals.
• Manage submittals through the approvals process, track procurement and delivery of electrical equipment and complete the receipt verification process once the equipment is delivered.
• Attend & record regular supply chain meetings to ensure that progress is monitored & maintained within the overall construction programme.
• Update and record progress on system trackers which are fully aligned with the construction schedule.
• Review the electrical installation with the BIM team to ensure the design is constructible and that there is adequate space for installation and maintenance of all equipment and cabling.
• Liaise with the design team & supply chain to ensure correct operation of the plant on site & successful handover.
• Complete electrical system walk-downs to ensure systems are compliant with specifications and drawings.
• Compile test pack, FTOP's and O&Ms and present for approval.
• Manage specialist vendors during the commissioning process to ensure timely completion of their works.
• Undertake client training in line with agreed training plan.
• Lead Engineering Design and Design Management tasks on Projects as part of an integrated project team,
• Strong technical ability in all aspects of Electrical Engineering Services & Design,
• Proactive with a strong ability to work independently and without supervision,
• Design and specification of Electrical Engineering Solutions to current regulations and design standards,
• Working directly with clients and project engineers to define project requirements and develop technical solutions,
• Develop and agree design processes and design deliverables,
• Lead Pre-Construction Engineering activities and the production of information including, design development, construction details, services coordination, technical submittals, sub-contracts, etc,
• Assist in the continual improvement of the QA System and execute project reviews,
• Provide technical support to the estimating, procurement, commercial, marketing and project bid teams,
• Provide off site technical support to construction teams on projects,

Necessary requirement of the Electrical Engineer

3rd level Qualification in Electrical Engineering / Building Services Engineering.

• Experience with both LV and MV systems primarily in building services and data centre environments.
• Knowledge & experience of current Design Guides, Codes of Practice, ETCI and or BS7671 Regulations, Building Regulations, EN Standards and IEC Standards, etc,
• Experience in Amtech, Dialux, Adobe Pro, Autodesk AutoCAD 2D and MS Office Suite Software,
• Experience of client, vendor & contractor interaction & management,
• Significant Project engineering experience of 7 years+ ideally in a construction environment.
• Previous record of delivering Electrical projects (Commercial, Industrial, pharma, data centre type projects)
