Job summary

Mercury Engineering seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial activities on major onsite projects in Italy, including data centres and civil works. You will ensure contract compliance, manage variations, remeasurements and interim valuations with accurate reporting.

With 5+ years post-qualification and strong English communication, you will forecast turnover and cash flow, support procurement, and coach the commercial team while aligning with Group policies.

Qualifications

• Relevant university qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent with extensive commercial experience.
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience post qualification in a big onsite environment (Contract values >€200m).
• Solid experience with large civil and ground works.
• Data centre experience also desired.
• Excellent communication and organisation skills.
• Must have excellent English language skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with contract obligations and monitor compliance.
• Identify commercial risks and report to management.
• Compile monthly progress applications including remeasure, variations and interim valuations.
• Procurement – support procurement activities in conjunction with the Procurement Department.
• Manage subcontractor accounts from award to interim valuation, variations and final account.
• Forecast turnover and cash flow of the projects.
• Review and commercial management of all projects, with accurate reporting.
• Identify, analyse, and report on trends within the Business & Projects.
• Provide data and analysis of issues & risks as required by Management.
• Improve and implement best practice commercial processes and budgeting.
• Lead, support, and coach commercial team members in cost management methods.
• Review incoming correspondence to identify contractually critical items and initiate replies.
• Ensure Construction Team adheres to Contractual Requirements and reporting.
• Ensure reporting is in line with Group Policies & highlight exceptions to Management.
• All other duties associated with this role.
