Job summary

AVL is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for Battery Systems to lead development across HV batteries, BMS, packs and electrified powertrains, ensuring standards are met and requirements are traced throughout the lifecycle.

You will coordinate with global teams, drive verification/validation activities, and support manufacturing transfers while providing specialist customer clarification. Expect travel and strong problem-solving in a dynamic mobility mission.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of experience in Battery Systems, Electrification Systems, Energy Storage, or related automotive engineering.
• Experience with requirements engineering, system integration, verification and validation.
• Knowledge of HV battery development and BMS is advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; willingness to travel.
• Business fluent English and clear customer-focused communication.

Responsibilities

• Design battery systems and sub-systems for HV batteries, BMS, packs, modules, and charging.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and global project teams for seamless integration.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for battery and test system issues.
• Coordinate with manufacturing to transfer designs into production.
• Guide system installation, commissioning, and verification activities.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions across projects.
• Define and manage battery system requirements, interfaces, and traceability.
