Senior Automotive Exterior Designer - Luxury & Sports cars - Milan

This position is part of a leading Research Center, dedicated to enhancing the quality of its products by fostering a robust design ecosystem. As a Senior Automotive Designer, you'll be an active member of the automotive design team, collaborating in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. You'll work closely with experts in Product, User Experience, Brand, and Retail Design to shape the future of products and consumer experiences globally. The studio is located in Milan, Italy, one of Europe's most dynamic and international cities.

Main Responsibilities

• Generate your own automotive exterior design projects, actively participating in all stages of the process to create competitive and successful solutions.
• Manage small teams to guarantee the best possible project outcomes.
• Enhance the quality of the existing design team, leveraging creativity and professionalism gained in previous work experiences.
• Cultivate strong relationships and trust with the company's management during presentations and reviews.
• Apply comprehensive knowledge of design activities, working from initial concepts through to production-ready designs, ensuring high-quality results.
• Bring strong creative enthusiasm and attention to detail, focusing on refining design solutions and exploring innovative ideas.
• Collaborate with external design resources to enhance team capabilities and actively participate in joint projects and partnerships.
• Communicate and present design concepts effectively, both internally and externally, ensuring clear and consistent understanding.
• Develop a solid knowledge of the Chinese automotive market.
• Be available to travel to China or other project-related locations a few times per year to present and support projects, conduct benchmarking, and engage with the HQ design team.

Required Skills

• A Bachelor's degree or higher in car design .
• At least 8 to 10 years of experience in exterior car design , gained within a top-level agency or an in-house design team.
• Proficiency in 2D / 3D design techniques , including photo editing, modeling, and rendering.
• Advanced skills in Blender software .
• Proven record of following up on clay models , both small and full scale.
• Interest and experience with AI tools to improve design quality and efficiency.
• A strong portfolio that demonstrates design solutions across different business sectors.
• Proven ability to handle small design teams , and willingness to take on leadership roles for specific tasks.
• Strong conceptual thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills .
• Strong organizational skills , with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
• A team player who can also work independently, with a positive and proactive attitude.
• Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
• Knowledge of the Chinese car market is a plus .
• Ability to work in a multicultural and international environment .
