About the Role

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Automation Product Line Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks, from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Genoa, Italy. We are seeking a technician with experience (at least 10 years post-graduation) in designing automation software systems for all phases of the life cycle, and in managing and coordinating teams.

Accountabilities

• Analysis and definition of software systems architectures
• Selection of the most appropriate technologies for the context
• Planning of activities
• Design and implementation of software components
• Managing the testing and deployment of software components

Required Skills / Knowledge

• Knowledge of software design methodologies (agile methodologies, DevOps, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Object Oriented Analysis)
• In-depth knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Docker Swarm)
• Knowledge of technologies for building cloud-native systems
• Knowledge of Javascript, NodeJS, HTML/XML, HTML5, JSON, Java languages
• Knowledge of graphical Javascript tools (Angular-9, AngularJs, Bootstrap)
• Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis)
• Knowledge of Version Control systems (git, svn)
• Thorough knowledge of Linux operating systems (RedHat, Ubuntu)
• Ability to estimate and plan software development activities

Desired Skills / Knowledge

• Experience in the implementation of applications in rail and metro automation

Education / Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent degree
