A maritime company in Italy is seeking a Second Engineer to oversee maintenance and operation of mechanical and electrical systems onboard. The role involves ensuring compliance with safety regulations and managing a team, with emphasis on technical expertise and collaboration with the Chief Engineer. Candidates must have STCW III/2 CoC, Italian endorsement, and COVID-19 vaccination. Excellent command of Italian and English is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and Operation: Supervise and participate in the maintenance and repair of all mechanical, electrical, and propulsion systems onboard, ensuring they are operational and meet safety and environmental standards.
• Safety and Compliance: Implement and monitor compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Conduct regular inspections and drills, ensuring all engineering practices adhere to international maritime laws and conventions.
• Emergency Response: Act as a key member of the emergency response team, ready to manage or support engineering-related incidents onboard.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of engineering department activities, including but not limited to maintenance and repair logs, inventory of spare parts and supplies, and fuel and oil consumption.
• Team Management: Assist in leading and managing the engineering team, promoting a culture of safety and excellence. Provide training and guidance to junior engineers and engine room crew.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Chief Engineer and other department heads to ensure the vessel's operational efficiency. Participate in planning and executing onboard operations, including loading, discharging, and maneuvering.
• Technical Support: Provide technical expertise and support to the vessel's crew, ensuring all onboard operations are conducted safely and efficiently.
