Role Overview

The Hill’s Sales Manager (SM) is responsible for growing Hill’s business (sales, distribution, market share and Brand Recommended Most Often "BRMO") in the assigned territory. The Sales Manager manages the customers, both veterinary clinics and specialty pet retail stores, ensuring Hill’s is the strategic partner of choice and supporting growth of Hill’s business.


What You Will Do


  • Product Knowledge – Develop and maintain high standards of knowledge in small animal nutrition, Hill’s and competitors’ products through company training and self‑study.

  • Territory Management – Achieve territory sales targets, manage orders, collection, and financial aspects, engage internal stakeholders.

  • Account Review and Development – Review potential of accounts yearly, identify new accounts, secure a strong presence and endorsement for Hill’s brands.

  • Reporting and Tools – Maintain accurate records in Hill’s reporting system, leverage all company available tools to drive execution (product distribution, detailing material, staff feeding, sampling, trial).

  • Clinic / Store Business Development – Build a network with key decision makers, provide best‑in‑class professional support, identify opportunities, manage multi‑store customers, ensure full distribution and active endorsement.

  • Business & Financial Management – Monitor achievement of territory objectives vs target, develop strategies to address changes.

  • Meetings & Conferences – Represent Hill’s at meetings and conferences, trade shows, client meetings, clinic/store special events.


Education & Experience


  • Master’s degree in Veterinary, Animal Science or equivalent.

  • Previous sales experience minimum 2–3 years in a nutrition company, veterinary industry or pharmaceutical company.


Additional Competencies / Skills


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Strong selling skills, ability to persuade, negotiate and finalize agreements.

  • Customer orientation and problem‑solving attitude.

  • Excellent time‑management, planning/priority setting, and budget management.

  • Proficient computer skills and ability to learn company‑specific tools & programs.

  • Fluent in Italian and good English.

  • Valid driver’s license required.


Working Relationships


  • The role doesn't have direct reports.

  • Reports to Field Sales Manager.

  • Works closely with Commercial Teams, including Marketing and Professional Veterinary Affairs.
