Job summary

ABB is seeking an experienced R&D Engineer in Lombardia to join our international design team. You will drive the design, development, and optimization of ABB electrification products such as Air Circuit Breakers, MCCBs, and switches, performing multi-body, stress, and tolerance analyses from CAD models and sharing results.

You will report to the R&D Engineer. A Master’s in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years in a related field are required, with Creo proficiency and fluent English.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in related area/field.
• Proficient with 3D CAD tools, especially Creo.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with international teams on design and optimization of ABB electrification products.
• Perform multi-body analysis, stress & strain, structural, and tolerance simulations using 2D/3D CAD models; document and present results.

This position reports to:

R&D Engineer

Your role and responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with international and interdisciplinary teams on design, development, and optimization of new ABB electrification products like Air Circuit Breakers (ACB), Molded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCB), Switches, etc. Carry out Multi-Body Analysis, Stress & Strain Simulations, Structural Analysis, and Tolerance Analysis, based on 2D/3D CAD models. Document and present simulations results and engage in technical discourse, offering insights into possible improvements and innovative solutions. Identify commonalities in the applied methodologies and define best practices. Drive continuous enhancement of simulation methodologies and share this knowledge.

Qualifications for the role

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineer, preferably with previous experience in design and maintenance of electromechanical and electronic devices.


• At least 5 year of experience required in relevant area/field.


• Mastering of 3D CAD tools, such as Creo.


• Working experience with multibody, stress & strain, structural, and tolerance analysis and simulations.


• An active and collaborative mindset, adept at both independent work and participation within a nimble, high-velocity team.


• Adaptability under pressure and an inclination to contribute to the evolution of the team and other people.


• You are at ease communicating in English


• Knowledge of electric arc modeling and simulation is a plus.

Compensation Package

Minimum annual salary: € 48.000

Variable Pay: AIP Target 5% + Eligible for Company Productivity Bonus
