Laboratory Technician – Combustion Systems Development & Laboratory Operations (Tenova)
Tenova is looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our Downstream Team and manage the combustion laboratory (Tenova LAB). The role includes design of combustion systems and burners, execution of tests, reporting, and maintaining a sound filing system in line with laboratory policies.
Responsibilities
- Operational laboratory management: manage plant on-site, supervise daily operations, monitor system parameters, and execute technical interventions.
- Test bench setup: prepare test rooms, equipment, and measurement systems required for experimental activities.
- Test execution: conduct combustion tests with colleagues, ensuring accuracy and repeatability.
- Reporting: draft detailed reports following the tests.
- Maintenance coordination: plan and oversee ordinary and extraordinary maintenance activities, liaising with internal and external service providers.
- Safety procedures: draft, update, and enforce operational and safety procedures in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Equipment data management: maintain up-to-date records of installed equipment and instrumentation, and manage burner archive and historical data.
- R&D activities: design, develop, and optimize combustion systems and burners, including prototypes and custom-made burners for specific projects.
Qualifications
- Technical/ITS diploma (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Thermotechnical) or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Energy, Mechanical Engineering).
- 2–3 years of experience in technical laboratories or experimental plants, preferably in the energy, thermal systems, or combustion sector.
- Knowledge of combustion principles and thermal plant operation.
- Experience with measurement instruments and data acquisition systems.
- Basic electrical and/or mechanical maintenance skills.
- Familiarity with safety standards in industrial/lab environments.
- Experience with maintenance or inventory management software; ISO 9001 / ISO 45001 certification and gas technician certification or electrical safety training is a plus.
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D mechanical design and PLM software (Autocad and Inventor).
- Strong sense of responsibility and ability to work independently.
- Teamwork and collaboration experience in multidisciplinary environments.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving attitude.
- Fluent in English, written and spoken.
- Willingness to travel.
