Career Opportunities: R&D Mechanical Senior Engineer Stationary Industrial Scanners (11182)

This position will be a key member of the Stationary Industrial Scanner Mechanical Team. As a member of this team, you will be shaping the future of Datalogic’s success designing mechanical components and assembly of complex optomechatronic devices for barcode reading application.

Role Mission:

Drive the end-to-end mechanical design and development of complex optomechatronic devices, ensuring functional, reliable, and manufacturable solutions. Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize designs from concept through mass production, leveraging simulation tools and prototyping for early issue detection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute detailed mechanical design tasks, including 3D modeling and 2D drafting, ensuring design compliance with specifications and reliability through structured validation and testing procedures
  • Select appropriate thermoplastic and metal materials, applying deep knowledge of their properties and manufacturing processes.
  • Tolerance analysis, thermal and stress simulations and prototyping to anticipate, analyze, and resolve mechanical design issues early in the development process
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional R&D teams (Systems, Hardware, Optical Designers) throughout the product development process for optimal integration and production.
  • Support cross-functional teams including Quality Assurance, Procurement, Operations and Manufacturing to ensure feasibility and production readiness
  • Engage with suppliers to co-design components during the design-for-manufacturing phase and support industrialization.
  • Contribute to innovation through solution ideation and patent submissions, while maintaining accurate BoMs and up-to-date technical documentation

Requirements:

  • Education: Master\'s degree in Mechanical Engineer
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in Mechanical Design

Technical & Soft Skills :

  • Strong knowledge of GD&T principle
  • Expertise in injection molding, die-casting and CNC machining processes including relevant standards
  • Preferred: knowledge of Siemens NX and Siemens Teamcenter SW, FEM SW (preferred MSC Nastran SW), CFD SW (preferred Ansys Icepak or Ansys Fluent)
  • Strong problem-solving and innovation mindset
  • Open, communicative, excellent cross-functional collaborations skills; Ability to anticipate and solve issues and recognize opportunities.
