A leading global sweet-packaged food company is seeking an R&D Group Packaging Sustainability Specialist in Alba, Italy. This role focuses on developing sustainable packaging solutions and requires 3 to 5 years of experience in packaging sustainability, proficiency in data management, and fluency in both Italian and English. As a R&D Group Packaging Sustainability Specialist, you will be part of our R&D Group Packaging Sustainability, inside Global R&D Packaging team, where you’ll contribute to track sustainable packaging solutions. You’ll report directly to the R&D Group Packaging Sustainability Manager.
As a R&D Group Packaging Sustainability Specialist, you will play a key role in shaping the future of sustainable packaging within our Global R&D Packaging team. You’ll contribute to support our packaging sustainability strategy, focusing on KPIs tracking, reporting and LCA studies.
In this role, you’ll manage our environmental footprint database, update carbon emission factors, helping us make informed decisions through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies using tools like Simapro and maintain our internal LCA tools.
Your work will support the Central Sustainability Team and contribute to defining KPIs to monitor packaging performance.
You’ll contribute to updating our environmental models and monitoring key performance indicators, ensuring that packaging-related topics are well represented in our CSR reports.
To thrive in this role, you bring a strong academic background with a degree in Engineering or other scientific disciplines, and most importantly, hands-on experience in sustainability and reporting. You’ve spent 3 to 5 years working in packaging sustainability teams—whether in FMCG companies, international consultancies, or recycling and waste management organizations—where you’ve developed a solid understanding of key packaging materials like plastic, glass, paper, and aluminum and sustainability related characteristics.
You’re confident in conducting Life Cycle Assessment studies and navigating related software tools, with Simapro being a plus. Your approach is data-driven: you know how to interpret and manage complex datasets, visualize insights clearly, Proficient Excel and use of tool like PowerPoint to communicate effectively. SAP knowledge is a bonus.
Fluency in both Italian and English—spoken and written is essential, as you’ll be working in a global environment and collaborating across teams and regions.
