This shift will be working: Thurs-Sun 8am-6:30pm.

The Quality Team at Amazon Leo is looking for a Quality Inspector to join our team and help perform critical inspection duties within our Manufacturing Quality organization.

Key job responsibilities
  • Perform Receiving Inspection activity using sampling plans and metrology equipment, such as CMMs, Romer Arms, micrometers, calipers, height gages, calipers, micrometers, gages, etc.
  • Report nonconformances when defective material is found.
  • Develop and lead 5S activities around the Quality area(s) to ensure efficient working areas.
  • Read Inspection Plans and Work Instructions to perform quality inspections.
  • Interpret engineering blueprints and drawings to the ASME Y14.5 standard to GD&T.
  • Perform Critical in-process and final inspections for assembled product.
  • Complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to the requirements of AS9102.
  • Develop Standard Operator Procedures (SOPs) for other inspectors to follow for day-to-day tasks.
  • Train new inspectors on the correct usage of equipment and day to day responsibilities.
A day in the life

This role will work daily to:

  • Execute inspection plans for a wide variety of received hardware, utilizing a wide range of equipment.
  • Perform and complete FAIs to AS9102 and present package to engineering for sign off.
  • Inspect and buy off rework/repair activities.
  • Investigate hardware for defects, and create nonconformance reports for discrepant hardware.
  • Perform In-Process and Final inspections for assembly processes.
  • Develop Standard Operator Procedures (SOPs) for other inspectors to follow for day-to-day tasks.
  • Train new inspectors on the correct usage of equipment and day to day responsibilities.
About the team

Amazon Leo's Manufacturing Quality team is driven to develop an Amazon Leo Quality System that is capable of scaling aerospace quality to volume and cost levels to meet end customer needs. This position will join the team at an exciting moment, with an opportunity to own quality system development and contribute to the design of requirements, processes, and systems used across the business. Basic Qualifications
  • 2+ years experience as a Quality Inspector in a Receiving Inspection Role.
  • 2+ years experience reading/ interpreting Engineering Drawings or schematics.
  • 2+ years experience in using hand measuring tools (e.g., height gauge, calipers, micrometers).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiar with FAI forms to AS9102.
  • Certified inspector to IPC-610.
  • Certified inspector to IPC-620.
  • Familiar with Metrologic and/or PCDMIS inspection software.
  • Familiar with automated inspection equipment, including Romer arms, comparators, CMMs, and other metrology software based inspection methods.
  • Comfortable reading sampling tables to ANSI/ASQ ZI.4 for established AQL levels.
  • Has led inspection teams before, and can run daily 5S activities in quality areas.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $74,880/year in our lowest geographic market up to $80,080/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
