Descrizione del lavoro

The Process Flow Assurance Engineer (from a PMC Project Management Consultant perspective) is responsible for providing oversight, verification, and technical assurance of all flow assurance activities associated with offshore wellhead platforms (WHPs) and subsea production systems. This role ensures the reliable, safe, and efficient transport of hydrocarbons through subsea and top-side networks by monitoring the EPC contractors studies and validating compliance with project specifications, HSE requirements, and international standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as PMC focal point for flow assurance design and verification activities across all project phases (FEED, EPC, commissioning).
  • Review and approve steady-state and transient flow assurance studies conducted by EPC contractors.
  • Evaluate production system performance, pressure-temperature envelopes, and flow regime predictions.
  • Verify pipeline and riser sizing, insulation, and heating system design for safe operability under all scenarios.
  • Assess hydrate, wax, asphaltene, corrosion, and erosion risks and validate mitigation strategies.
  • Review and comment on PFDs, P&IDs, and process control logic to ensure operability and flow assurance integration.
  • Participate in technical reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, PSSR, Model Reviews, FAT/SAT) ensuring flow assurance issues are resolved.
  • Ensure robust operational procedures are developed for start-up, shutdown, pigging, depressurization, and chemical injection.
  • Review chemical injection philosophies (MEG, methanol, corrosion inhibitors) and validate vendor design parameters.
  • Support interface management between subsea, pipeline, and topside engineering disciplines.
  • Monitor EPC contractor progress and verify compliance with project quality, safety, and schedule milestones.
  • Contribute to risk management and mitigation for potential flow assurance-related production issues.
  • Provide technical input to commissioning, early production testing, and operational readiness reviews.
  • Ensure documentation completeness for project handover and operational support.
Technical Competencies
  • Proficient in flow assurance simulation tools: OLGA, PIPESIM, LedaFlow, and Multiflash.
  • Strong understanding of multiphase flow behavior, slugging dynamics, and thermal-hydraulic design principles.
  • Expertise in hydrate, wax, and asphaltene management for subsea production systems.
  • Familiar with subsea and topside system integration, chemical dosing systems, and slug catcher design.
  • Knowledge of international standards such as API 17A, ISO 13628, and DNV-ST-F101/F119.
  • Experience with insulation, DEH (Direct Electrical Heating), and active thermal management systems.
  • Ability to interpret laboratory test data (PVT, wax appearance temperature, hydrate curves) and apply to simulations.
  • Strong background in process hydraulics, flow regimes, and transient simulations.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Process Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in flow assurance or process engineering, including offshore/subsea systems.
  • At least 5 years in PMC or Operator role providing design assurance and contractor oversight.
  • Hands-on experience with OLGA or PIPESIM for steady-state and transient analysis.
  • Familiarity with design, commissioning, and operation of subsea pipelines and riser systems.
  • Experience with top-side tie-back and wellhead platform integration projects.
  • Valid offshore survival and medical certification (BOSIET/FOET) preferred.
