Job summary

UL LLC is seeking a Project Engineer (m/f/i) in Power Distribution Certification to lead and autonomously manage certification projects within Electrical Distribution to ensure on-time delivery and high quality for clients.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager in an international team, you will prepare datasheets, schedule work, review laboratory tasks, and communicate with clients about tests and completion dates, including travel to client sites when needed.

Qualifications

• University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program.
• Detailed knowledge of the technical vocabulary common to the appropriate discipline.
• Working knowledge of conformity standards in use in area of expertise.
• Demonstrated ability to apply project-handling concepts in use in area of expertise.

Responsibilities

• Manages certification projects for devices in Wiring Devices segment (e.g., connectors, terminal blocks, cable trays, cable glands, industry plugs and sockets).
• Determines project specifications such as scope, cost, time, sample requirements, technical documentation by analyzing client input and product data.
• Preparing datasheets and instructions, scheduling and reviewing work of Laboratory Technicians and establishing completion dates.
• Communicates with clients to discuss technical issues and explains UL procedures and requirements; travel to conduct or witness tests at client sites may occur.
• Provides technical assistance to clients in reference to product evaluations and follow-up services.
• Establishes appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer's information, examining samples, and applying UL requirements.
• Develops test requirements for products beyond the scope of existing standards, or those involving unique features requiring independent judgment.
