Job summary

Job description

Okatim is looking for a Database Administrator expert for one of our clients in the defense and aerospace sector

The role is responsible for the day-to-day administration and maintenance of relational databases, ensuring they remain available, secure, and reliable. This includes analyzing storage and sizing needs and managing database instances, tables, indexes, permissions, and space quotas in Oracle Database or PostgreSQL environments.

The position involves using SQL and, when required, PL/SQL or PL/pgSQL, as well as working in Linux environments for basic database management and operational tasks. It also includes setting up and running backup and restore procedures using Oracle RMAN or pg_dump/pg_restore, and regularly testing data recovery to ensure backups are working correctly.

The role also involves monitoring database performance, system resources, and logs to identify and resolve issues such as slow queries, inefficient indexes, or database locks. Finally, the position includes applying security patches and version updates to keep database environments secure and up to date.

Professional-level English is required to handle technical documentation and coordinate effectively with international teams.

This is a full on site position based in Rome.
