PLANT MANAGER – Bakery

Rome, GA

Our client is a world class manufacturer of bakery and snack products sold thorough the world. They are currently seeking a PLANT MANAGER -GENERAL MANAGER to run the plant and business in Rome, GA. They are looking for a well-rounded Plant Manager and strong business leader to manage the location and be capable of being promoted in the future. Candidate will be responsible and accountable for the coordination and direction of all plant activity toward the achievement of maximum efficiency of operations with the assurance of producing and shipping quality products. Responsible for performance in meeting the company’s operational goals relating to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, C.I. and People.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, assign, and direct work within plant through local leadership team to ensure that product is produced at the lowest possible cost consistent with established specifications for quality and quantity.
  • Develop and maintain a positive, productive relationship with leadership team, coordinating plant goals and objectives with procurement, sales, distribution, maintenance, quality control, and human resources to obtain optimum production, utilization of manpower and equipment, and fulfillment of customer orders.
  • Implement recommended and required policies, procedures, techniques, facilities, production plans, and any other matter relative to the effective operation of the plant and company.
  • Provide resources and guidance to all employees as it relates to the plant operation.
  • Manage inventory and product loss control processes, ensuring quality of product is consistent with desired design and Company image and that quality standards are met.
  • Prepare capital and operating budgets and implement cost control measures.
  • Develop, prioritize, and execute capital improvement projects within the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with company, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Implement and drive process consistency and cross functional collaboration utilizing Continuous Improvement methodology that results in process improvement and cost saving initiatives.
  • Build a high achieving production team capable of sustaining the company’s profitability, goals, and vision.
  • Partner with all functional departments to ensure meeting business unit and company safety, service, cost, and people goals.
  • Provide leadership to management team in ensuring effective selection, retention, and performance management of all employees.
  • Benchmark and set targets for overall plant and personnel performance.
  • Maintain an understanding of go-to market strategies based on customer demands, manufacturing capabilities, and storage capacities.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in related discipline required
  • Minimum of 7+ years of significant, direct, and practical Plant Management experience in food/beverage manufacturing.
  • Must have at least 5+yrs of bakery manufacturing experience
  • Experience working with and implementing LEAN manufacturing principles, highly preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to build consensus and foster positive relationships in order to drive company strategy and efficient methods in achieving the lowest landed cost possible.
  • Capacity to solve problems through creative, innovative solutions and challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks and removing obstacles.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex sets of data and make business recommendations based on analysis.
