Job summary

Università di Pisa seeks a highly motivated PhD candidate for a fully funded international doctoral position within the MSCA Doctoral Network, MicroMan4Health. The research focuses on data-centric micromanufacturing platforms for health, bridging process physics with real‑time monitoring and AI‑assisted modelling.

Three international secondments are planned across MMIMicro, KU Leuven, and Politecnico di Milano.

Qualifications

• Strong interest and hands‑on experience in precision and micro‑manufacturing.
• Experience in physics‑based and numerical modelling (FEM, thermal or multiphysics) and interest in surrogate modelling.
• Hands‑on experience in data‑driven modelling, machine learning, digital‑twin concepts and programming.
• Familiarity with process monitoring, measurement equipment and DoE.
• Awareness of medical-device quality frameworks (ISO 13485) is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead doctoral research within the MSCA Doctoral Network.
• Integrate physics‑based modelling with data‑driven predictors for micromanufacturing processes.
• Collaborate across international secondments with industry and academic partners.
