A leading international technical service provider in Genova is seeking an experienced Surveyor to support clients in the marine industry. This full-time permanent role involves conducting surveys and assessments, requiring a degree in engineering and at least five years of marine industry experience. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication skills and a commitment to safety. Opportunities for professional development, including support towards chartership, are included.
As a Surveyor with Lloyd’s Register you will join our experienced team in Italy, supporting clients across the marine industry. You will apply your technical expertise to deliver surveys and assessments that promote safety at sea and protect the environment. This is a client-facing role where you’ll combine engineering knowledge with strong problem-solving skills to deliver value and maintain the highest professional standards.

Conduct surveys, assessments, and provide technical advice within your area of expertise.
Produce deliverables to agreed time, budget, and quality standards.
Present and discuss findings with internal and external clients, proposing solutions where appropriate.
Ensure all work complies with LR procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and technologies.
Support service delivery improvement by sharing client feedback and technical insights.
Provide guidance to colleagues where appropriate, contributing to effective knowledge transfer.
Undertake routine administration and maintain necessary authorisations.
Demonstrate a proactive commitment to health and safety in all activities.
A degree (or equivalent) in engineering, naval architecture, or physical science from a recognised institution; or qualifications from a marine / nautical institution with relevant sea‑going experience as a certificated ship’s officer.
At least five years’ experience in the marine industry. Previous experience with a classification society or maritime administration is an advantage.
Knowledge of classification rules and regulations, SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC and other statutory requirements.
Relevant sea‑going experience as a certificated ship’s engineering officer is desirable.
Membership of a relevant professional institution and working towards (or holding) Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
Fluency in written and spoken English (knowledge of Italian is an advantage).
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical ideas clearly and build trusted relationships with clients.
