Network Engineer - Cloud Operations

Siemens Healthineers is looking for a Network Engineer with expertise in cloud operations, focusing on Microsoft Azure and Palo Alto Networks firewalls. You will support our global cloud environments, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and optimize network performance and security.

Responsibilities

• Provide network operations and support for Varian’s cloud solutions, including private, public, and hybrid infrastructure.
• Assist with upgrading, installing, and configuring various cloud solutions, including monitoring, application access, security, and Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
• Configure and support backbone connections over ExpressRoute (Azure) and direct connection and VPN architecture.
• Maintain IP CIDR allocation and perform maintenance involving network, subnets, VLANs, routes, etc.
• Troubleshoot and determine root cause of issues and resolve network‑related outages quickly.
• Collaborate on projects, create, update, and complete documentation, and provide the highest level of customer service.
• Apply network system updates, patches, configuration changes, and plan network layouts for user environments.
• Serve as a technical mentor, stay up to date with assigned learning management system courses, and maintain strong knowledge of Varian’s suite of applications.
• Provide on‑call support as required and work on North American business hours.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degree in computer science or equivalent; 5–7 years of relevant experience may be substituted for education.
• Experience supporting and managing networks in an enterprise cloud computing environment.
• Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, NAT, subnetting, CIDR).
• Routing and switching expertise in OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, VLANs, STP, and layer 2/3 concepts.
• Network performance analysis with packet capture tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, iperf, SolarWinds).
• WAN and VPN knowledge of MPLS, SD‑WAN, IPsec, SSL VPN, and ExpressRoute (Azure).
• Hands‑on experience with Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Citrix NetScaler, and Citrix ADC.
• Network security concepts, firewalls, IDS/IPS, ACLs, DDoS mitigation, RADIUS, TACACS+, PKI, SSL/TLS.
• Experience troubleshooting telecom/peering partner networks and escalating to vendors.
• ITIL knowledge and experience with Incident, Problem, Change processes.
• Hands‑on experience writing technical documentation and diagram documentation (Visio/Lucidchart).
• Experience with highly available/scalable infrastructure and applications.

• Palo Alto Networks Certification PCNSA/PCNSE
• Azure Network Engineer Certification
• Azure Administrator Certification
• Telco/provider experience with Lumen, CenturyLink, Cox, Level 3, Equinix, AT&T, etc.
