Job summary

Ekkiden Group is seeking an experienced Network Administrator to join a team in Rome on a long-term project. You will manage complex, multi-tenant networks with a security-first mindset, handling day-to-day operations, onboarding, and ongoing optimization.

The role requires 5+ years in the field, strong Cisco Meraki, Firepower and F5 expertise, plus solid TCP/IP knowledge and ITIL experience. Expect on-call duties and collaborative work across IT, cybersecurity and business teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Network Administrator or Network Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Configure and support Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches and routers.
• Administer Cisco Firepower and F5 AFM firewalls.
• Configure and manage F5 load balancers.
• Administer Cisco Meraki switching, wireless and security.
• Set up and maintain site-to-site IPsec VPN tunnels.
• Monitor WAN usage and troubleshoot network issues.
• Provide first and second-level support, coordinating with vendors.
• Review logs and alerts, and take corrective action.
• Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and templates.
• Participate in on-call/standby rota.
• Contribute to security projects: review vulnerability reports and implement controls.
• Work with IT, business and cybersecurity teams to turn requirements into secure solutions.
• Automate recurring tasks with scripting and automation tools.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Network Administrator to join a team of 4-5 engineers supporting the network infrastructure of an international organisation on a long-term project. The role is based in Rome, Italy, so candidates must live in or near Rome, or be willing to relocate.

You will keep a complex, multi-tenant network running smoothly and securely, from day-to-day operations to onboarding new services, always with a security-first approach.

Responsibilities:

• Configure and support Cisco infrastructure (Nexus and Catalyst switches, routers)


• Administer firewalls, including Cisco Firepower and F5 BIG-IP AFM


• Configure and manage F5 load balancers


• Administer Cisco Meraki solutions (switching, wireless and security)

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years of experience as a Network Administrator or Network Engineer


• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco switching and routing


• Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki


• Proven experience with F5 load balancers


• Strong experience with Cisco Firepower and F5 AFM firewalls


• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, OSPF and BGP


• Good understanding of cloud networking, ideally AWS (VPC, routing, security groups)


• Knowledge of LAN, data centre and WAN technologies (SD-WAN, MPLS, DNS)


• Experience working in ITIL-based environments


• Excellent English, both written and spoken


• Strong troubleshooting skills, team spirit and a service-oriented attitude

Salary Proposition:

250€/day in freelance contract
