Thales NAS (Navigation and non-radar Surveillance) in Gorgonzola, Italy, seeks engineers with a strong background in systems engineering and electronics to join an integrated agile team. The role focuses on developing and validating navigation and non-radar surveillance products for civil and military use.

Fluent English and collaboration across disciplines are essential, with exposure to ILS, DME, TACAN, VOR, and ADS-B interfaces. This is a full-time position based in Gorgonzola, Italy.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with minimum 5 years’ experience or Master with 4+ years’ experience.
• Master degree in Engineering among Electronics, Digital, Telecom, RF, Aerospace disciplines.
• Experience in systems engineering and broad engineering knowledge across electronic, software, telecom, mechanical, RF.

Italy is the Group’s Competence center for the design, production and delivery of Navigation Aids products and Competence Centre for the delivery of non-Radar Surveillance Products.

Job Description

Thales Navigation And non-radar Surveillance (NAS) business segment, part of the Thales Land and Air Systems Global Business Unit, architects solutions used by two-thirds of all planes worldwide to take off and land safely. Our Ground Navigation portfolio offers a complete range of products, which includes the latest generation of ground-based navigational aids (NAVAIDs) (e.g. ILS, DME, TACAN, VOR) and non-radar surveillance (e.g. ADS-B). With more than 7,000 NAVAIDs and non-radar surveillance installed worldwide in 172 countries, we are world leaders in the NAVAIDs market.

Responsibilities

• Participate to an integrated agile engineering team composed by several disciplines as Cyber, Software, Mechanics, Radio frequency, Safety, Design, service, manufacturing … to develop new products or propose improvement of existing products


• Perform studies and simulation to validate innovating concepts and verify the performance of these innovations on the real system


• Analyze stakeholders’ requirements


• Produce and maintain product System Specifications and the product external interfaces


• Analyze the System/Subsystem Specification (SSS) requirements to determine collectively the relevant modifications to the hardware, software


• Support the hardware and software teams in the specifications and the interfaces of the sub systems of the product


• Contribute to system IVVQ activities by defining the test strategy, writing test procedures and conduct integration, verification and qualification tests

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience or Masters with 4+ years’ experience


• Master degree in Engineering among the following disciplines : Electronic, Digital, Telecom, Radio frequency, Aerospace


• Experience in systems engineering


• Overall engineering knowledge: Electronic, Software, Telecom, Mechanical, Radio Frequency and Engineering process (design, develop, qualify).


• Good knowledge of standard Office tools (e.g. MS Office)


• Team spirit to find collectively the most effective way to team objectives


• Capacity to solve complex problem by himself or by requesting support and explain in a synthetic way how to solve them


• Fluent English is a must, ability to speak additional languages as Italian, French, or German is a benefit.

The candidate should

• Have a basic knowledge of Navigation and Surveillance equipment such as ILS, VOR, TACAN, DME, ADSB, MLAT, WAM… and in the technical field of air navigation and surveillance services and on the various regulations / standards such as ICAO or specific local standards.


• Be proficient in the use of requirement management tools (Siemens Polarion ALM, IBM DOORS)


• Be proficient with at least one between MATLAB or Python for scientific analysis


• Be proficient in the use of issue tracking software (e.g. Jira)


• Be self-motivated, critical thinker with strong curiosity to learn


• Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
