Thales in Gorgonzola, Italy is seeking a seasoned Project Engineer for Navigation systems in Air Traffic Management. You will lead technical interfaces, study tenders, define architecture and support site surveys and deployments.

The role requires a broad engineering background (electronic, RF, software, telecom), strong communication skills and willingness to travel worldwide. Fluent English and Italian are expected; German/French is a plus. On-site assignment with Thales globally.

Competenze

• Engineering degree or equivalent.

Mansioni

• Analyze tender technical parts (compliance matrix) with assistance from Solution Engineering Managers.
• Perform Site Surveys including Site Survey Reports to adapt the solution to the site constraints.
• Define the optimal solution architecture by using product qualified equipment and simulations with site inputs.
• Provide design documentation and configuration files according to site and contracts.
• In cooperation with procurement, deliver technical specs and contribute to the SOW for suppliers.
• Support the project manager in the scope of supply for Thales and supplier products.
• Support the product policy and limit project specificities.
• Support on-site teams to resolve technical issues with product engineering, PM, QA and other resources.
• Deliver detailed documentation for Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests.

Italy is the Group’s Competence center for the design, production and delivery of Navigation Aids products and Competence Centre for the delivery of non-Radar Surveillance Products.

JOB OBJECTIVE

In the field of Navigation systems equipment in Air Traffic Management, the candidate will be responsiblefor all technical activities and customer interfaces during the offer and support execution phases of aDomestic/Export project. He/She acts as lead technical interface regards Solution architecture, performance, support to help to solveissues raised during the project phase.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• The project engineer is responsible for analyzing the technical parts of tenders (compliance matrix) withassistance from Solution Engineering- Managers and other experts;
• He/She performs Site Surveys including Site Survey Reports to adapt the solution to the site constraints;
• He/She defines the optimal solution architecture by using product qualified equipment’s and performing simulations with customer installation sites inputs;
• He/She is responsible to provide, Product adaptation Design Documentation and the associatedconfiguration files (applicable and applied) according to the customer site and contracts;
• In co-operation with procurement department, he/she delivers technical specifications and contributes tothe Statement of work to suppliers in order to obtain commitments on cost, schedule, deliveries contents;
• He/She supports the project manager, in the definition of the scope of supply for THALES own and anysupplier products;
• He/She supports the product policy and limits the projects specificities within the product forecastadaptation areas;
• He/She support department involved on site to solve technical on-site issues in co-operation with theproduct engineering team, Project manager, customer service and any other resources (Quality, local KIP,others);
• Based on existing product tests he/she support, delivering detailed documentation, the people involvedduring Factory Acceptance Test and Site Acceptance Tests.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• The candidate should have a overall engineer spectrum : Electronic, Radio frequency, Software, Telecom, mechanical, simple Civil Works, and engineering process
• Good knowledge of standard Office tools (e.g. MS Office) and CAD (e.g. AutoCAD) or MS Visio andexperience with network technologies, Linux OS, data links and remote-control systems
• It’s desirable that candidate has a basic experience in Navaids equipment’s as ILS, VOR, TACAN, DME… and in the technical field of air traffic management and on the various regulations / standards such as EN, ICAOor specific local standards
• The candidate should have communications and negotiation skills to be capable to ensure the equipment’s acceptance and to support Thales product policy by minimizing projects specificities.
• The candidate should be able to handle several type of activities by himself or by requesting remotesupport from the product team.
• The candidate should have the willingness to travel abroad to any worldwide destination.

LANGUAGES

• English, technically firm and fluent in writing and speech
• Italian, technically firm and fluent in writing and speech
• German&French at B1/B2 level would be considered as a PLUS

Additional languages, such as Russian, Spanish, French, Arabic to a technical firm level thus to be capable tosupport/handle tender/contracts requirements would be beneficial.
