ALMA MATER STUDIORUM - UNIVERSITA' DI BOLOGNA - DIPARTIMENTO DI INGEGNERIA INDUSTRIALE is seeking a researcher to design, implement, and validate a multimodal infrastructure for monitoring laser welding processes. The project will integrate optical sensors, including a high-speed camera, with process-monitoring sensors to study laser–material interactions and process stability.

The activity will focus on the design, implementation, and validation of a multimodal infrastructure for monitoring laser welding processes.
The system will integrate optical sensors, including a high-speed camera, and process-monitoring sensors, such as photodiodes, to synchronously acquire complementary information on laser–material interaction and process stability.
The sensor configuration and installation, sampling frequencies, and data synchronisation, acquisition, and storage procedures will be defined.
The infrastructure will subsequently be used to conduct experimental campaigns aimed at building a dataset representative of different operating conditions.
The acquired signals will be correlated with the main defects asso. The resulting dataset will provide the experimental basis for the development, training, and validation of the PIML models.
