This project aims to characterize the anatomical and molecular changes occurring in stem cell niches by integrating advanced spatial profiling technologies with histological and molecular analyses, in order to identify the anatomical and molecular determinants underlying the age-related decline in regenerative function. The objective is to define how the structural and functional organization of stem cell niches is remodeled during aging and to identify spatial molecular signatures associated with pro-regenerative or pro-senescent states. The expected findings will provide new insights into the mechanisms governing tissue homeostasis and regeneration, while identifying novel therapeutic targets for regenerative medicine and healthy aging strategies, with potential translational applications in both veterinary and comparative medicine.
