The Exploration Company in Piemonte, Italy is seeking a talented Mechanism Engineer to design, manufacture, test and deliver fully inhouse mechanisms for Nyx. You will work across the entire design cycle, generating components, assemblies and interface drawings, and applying hand calculations and FEA to optimize flight mechanisms.

You will develop and execute test plans, participate in design reviews, and prepare technical reports for stakeholders.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years designing mechanisms for aerospace industry.
• Strong understanding of design principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Proficient in CAD (Nx) for 3D modeling and simulation.
• Knowledge of GD&T and change release processes.
• Familiarity with space environment challenges (vacuum, radiation, extreme temperatures).
• Experience with kinematic, torque and force calculations.
• Systems engineering mindset and space mechanisms standards knowledge.

Here at The Exploration Company, we are building spacecrafts for humanity.

We want you as a talented and experienced Mechanism Engineer to help us in our mission by designing, manufacturing, testing and delivering, fully inhouse mechanisms for Nyx.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the whole design cycle of flight mechanisms, including conceptualization, trade studies, detailed design, analysis, testing (development, qualification, acceptance), and delivery.
• Generate component, assembly, and interface designs and drawings/documents. Manage change requests of released design products.
• Perform hand calculations and FEA to develop, assess, and optimize designs. Includes things like structural, kinematic, torque, and force analysis.
• Develop and execute test plans and procedures, including the planning, execution, data reduction, and analysis.
• Participate in design reviews internally and with external suppliers and customers.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Take ownership over certification work.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to prepare mechanisms for flight certification.

What we would love to see from you

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in designing mechanisms for the aerospace industry.
