Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering seeks a Mechanical Supervisor to represent the Project Manager on major construction sites and to take lead on all on-site activities from pre-mobilisation through commissioning and demobilisation.

The role requires a recognised trade apprenticeship with at least five years of site management experience, proven delivery of £5M+ projects, strong safety, planning and reporting skills, and excellent communication with clients and teams on complex M&E installations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of site management experience on mechanical construction projects.
• Experience delivering projects worth £5 million+ in commercial, industrial, pharma, or data centre sectors.
• IOSH/NEBOSH certificates are preferred but not essential.
• Strong computer skills for planning and reporting.
• Excellent communication and leadership for client and team interactions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in start-up tasks: develop construction programme, site establishment, risk assessments and method statements.
• Oversee on-site execution, maintain master/programme updates, chair meetings with sub-contractors, and manage variations.
• Lead and develop the sub-contractor workforce to ensure productivity and on-site presence.
• Promote safety through toolbox talks, site inductions, safety checks and adherence to HSEQ plans.
• Coordinate quality activities: inspection/test plans, snagging, and client handover.
• Close-out duties: demobilisation, documentation, and statutory notices.
• Support site diary maintenance, assist QS, and uphold Kirby’s professional image.
