Descrizione del lavoro
Position Overview:

The Space Production Mechanical Engineer (AIT) will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and components for satellites. The role will involve all stages of design, prototyping, testing, and validation, with the goal of ensuring that all components meet the high standards of quality, safety, and performance required for the space industry.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Mechanical Design
  • Design, develop, and optimize mechanical components for micro and small satellites, considering technical specifications, materials, and manufacturing solutions.
  • Create 3D models and detailed technical drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate mechanical components into space systems, ensuring that all components are optimized for the space environment.
2. Analysis and Simulation
  • Perform structural, thermal, and vibration analyses to verify the performance of components under extreme operational conditions, such as launch and orbit.
  • Use simulation software (e.g., ANSYS) to test and validate the behavior of materials and mechanical components.
  • Provide solutions to optimize mechanical performance and reduce the risk of failure.
3. Testing and Validation
  • Plan, execute, and analyze test campaigns for mechanical components, ensuring they meet design specifications and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Testing and Integration team to ensure components are ready for the assembly process and final integration into the satellite.
  • Propose improvements based on test results to optimize the robustness of components.
4. Documentation and Reporting
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to designs, specifications, and design changes.
  • Create test and analysis reports to document the validation of components and design solutions.
  • Ensure that documentation complies with company standards and space industry regulations (ECSS, NASA, ISO).
5. Project Management
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure that design activities are completed on time and within budget.
  • Monitor the progress of projects, promptly addressing any technical issues that may arise during development.
6. Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure that all designed components comply with space safety standards and applicable international regulations.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment by adhering to safety procedures and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the aerospace sector or other high-tech industries.
  • CAD Skills: Advanced experience with design software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, or similar.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in mechanical simulation software for structural and thermal analysis (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of materials used in the aerospace industry and mechanical design principles.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to solve complex problems and identify optimal solutions.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams with a strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license (Category B).
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in designing space components or satellite systems.
  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing and other fabrication technologies.
  • Familiarity with international space standards (ECSS, ISO, NASA).
What We Offer:
  • A dynamic and stimulating work environment.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Metalmeccanico (CCNL) with compensation based on experience and skills.
