A multinational engineering firm is seeking a Head of Marine Engineering to lead and develop the discipline at its Genoa office. RINA is currently recruiting for a Marine Engineering - Head of Discipline to join its office in Genoa, Viareggio or La Spezia, Italy within the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Division.
Mission
The Head of the Marine Engineering Discipline is a key leadership position responsible for driving development and excellence, in the various fields of the marine sector, within the Discipline.
This role drives collaboration, knowledge sharing and the ongoing development of the Discipline to deliver high-quality consulting services to RINA marine Clients.
The Head of Discipline works with Business Units (BUs) and Business Development Managers (BDM), in particular with RINA Marine Consulting (RMC), the other Disciplines of the Practice and other RINA Units to ensure the Discipline alignment with strategic goals, maintain high technical standards and deliver innovative solutions to meet evolving business needs.
Key Accountabilities
Education
Master’s Degree in Naval Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Other Qualifications
8+ years of experience in a technical or engineering field or with 5+ years of technical coordination of project teams.
Proven experience in leading teams and managing multi-disciplinary projects, with a strong understanding of technical and business requirements.
Deep knowledge of the marine design and construction fields – structural, stability, machinery and electrical systems, propulsion systems, automation safety - with a comprehensive understanding of industry trends, tools and most effective analysis approaches.
Demonstrated success in developing teams and fostering professional growth, including skills development, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Experience in staffing and performance management, with the ability to balance resources effectively across competing priorities.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and the capacity to articulate complex technical ideas clearly and persuasively.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools, including the promotion of Agile culture and principles across technical teams.
