Mandarin Oriental Cristallo, Cortina is preparing to open the luxurious Cortina resort and seeks a skilled Maintenance Technician to ensure safe, efficient operations and to support pre-opening of technical systems.

The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance across hotel systems, collaboration with the engineering team, and compliance with health and safety standards. Italian language is essential, English helpful, and the position supports a detailed pre-opening program.

Competenze

  • Technical qualification or diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing or Building Maintenance.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in hotel engineering, facility maintenance or a similar technical environment; luxury hospitality preferred.
  • Previous pre-opening experience is advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and general building maintenance systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems independently and efficiently.
  • BMS knowledge is advantageous.
  • Health, safety and environmental regulations knowledge relevant to engineering operations.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.
  • Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in Italian is essential; basic English preferred.

Mansioni

  • Participate in installation, inspection, testing and commissioning of building systems and equipment.
  • Support handover from contractors, report defects or outstanding works.
  • Set up preventive maintenance schedules and engineering documentation.
  • Familiarise with hotel plant rooms, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

  • Provide courteous service to guests and colleagues while upholding safety and workmanship.

Role Summary

As a Maintenance Technician at Mandarin Oriental Cristallo, Cortina, you will play a key role in ensuring the resort operates safely, efficiently and to the exceptional standards expected of the Mandarin Oriental brand. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance across the hotel, ensuring that all engineering systems, guest areas, back-of-house facilities and equipment remain in excellent condition. During the pre-opening phase, you will actively support the installation, testing and commissioning of the property's technical systems, contributing to a successful and seamless opening.

Key Responsibilities
Pre-Opening Responsibilities
  • Participate in the installation, inspection, testing and commissioning of building systems and engineering equipment.
  • Support the Engineering team during the handover process from contractors, identifying and reporting any defects or outstanding works.
  • Assist in setting up preventive maintenance schedules, maintenance procedures and engineering documentation.
  • Become familiar with all hotel plant rooms, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Support the installation and testing of guest room equipment, public area systems and back-of-house facilities.
  • Assist in preparing workshops, maintenance stores and spare parts inventory.
  • Participate in engineering training programmes and pre-opening operational readiness activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
Operational Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing and general building systems.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house departments.
  • Inspect equipment regularly to identify maintenance requirements before failures occur.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and perform repairs efficiently while minimising operational disruption.
  • Maintain HVAC, lighting, plumbing, fire safety and other building systems according to established standards.
  • Ensure all engineering works comply with local regulations, safety requirements and Mandarin Oriental operating procedures.
  • Accurately complete maintenance records, work orders and preventive maintenance documentation using the hotel's maintenance management system.
  • Assist external contractors during maintenance activities and ensure work is completed according to agreed specifications.
  • Maintain engineering workshops, tools and equipment in a clean, safe and organised condition.
  • Support energy conservation initiatives and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in the emergency response team and assist during technical emergencies or unforeseen operational issues.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to both guests and colleagues while maintaining the highest standards of safety and workmanship.
Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Technical qualification or diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing or Building Maintenance.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in hotel engineering, facility maintenance or a similar technical environment; experience in luxury hospitality is preferred.
  • Previous pre-opening experience is considered an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and general building maintenance systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems independently and efficiently.
  • Basic knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) is considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations relevant to engineering operations.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.
  • Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in Italian is essential; basic English is preferred.
