Chiesi in Parma, Italy is hiring a Maintenance Engineer to ensure reliability and continuous improvement of equipment across the facility. You will lead maintenance activities, plan and execute both planned and unplanned work, and support safety and compliance in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering/science, with expertise in CMMS, diagnostics, and lean manufacturing principles.

• Experience in roles within pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Minimum 5 years in similar maintenance/engineering roles.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering/Science (preferred fields: process/chemical/mechanical/automation).

This is what you will do

• Responsible for the reliability, and continuous improvement of equipment, machinery, and systems within a facility. Ensures optimal performance of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components across industrial environments. Contributes to operational efficiency, equipment optimization, and automation initiatives to maximize overall performance and productivity.
• Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment
• Overseeing and carrying out mechanical and electrical repairs and installations
• Developing maintenance procedures and ensuring implementation
• Planning and scheduling planned and unplanned maintenance work
• Monitoring equipment inventory and placing orders when necessary
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation
• Managing contractors and ensuring they complete works to a satisfactory standard
• Diagnosing faults and investigating equipment breakdowns
• Advising on equipment upgrades or replacements based on its current condition and operational requirements
• Documenting all maintenance and repair work for record-keeping and future reference
• Managing budgets for maintenance-related expenses
• Training maintenance staff and managing their work schedules
• Performing root cause analysis on major failures and recommending necessary action to prevent recurrence

You will need to have

• Previous experience in roles within the pharmaceutical industry (manufacturing environment)
• At least 5 years of professional experience in similar roles
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering/Science (preferred in process engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, automation technology or a similar discipline)

Technical Skills

• Advanced certifications in maintenance or relevant field (Preferred)
• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Basic understanding of safety protocols and regulations.
