Job Description

Legal Counsel – Milan, Italy (Full‑time). The position reports to the Head of Legal Italy and is fully integrated into the Group Legal and Contract Management Department Team.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
  • Negotiate and manage commercial legal work (contracts for clients, suppliers, partners, etc.).
  • Support the business on the legal aspects of M&A processes, strategic partnerships, key commercial agreements and other corporate and business development initiatives.
  • Provide support in legal, compliance and corporate governance matters (Board of Directors Meetings and General Meetings) for the Italian regulated entities within the Worldline Group.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, with particular focus on banking and payments laws and regulations.
  • Act as legal business partner to various departments; build strong relationships across the organisation; liaise with outside counsel.
  • Manage and foresee business risks and opportunities by regularly reviewing changes in the regulatory/legal environment.
  • Support the rest of the Worldline Group Legal Team and senior management.
  • Provide proactive, timely and business‑focused legal advice on payments services regulation.
  • Perform general legal assistance, including legal research and analysis of key issues.
Who Are We Looking For
  • At least 4 years post‑qualification experience in a law firm or as in‑house counsel within a financial institution, fintech, or large international IT company.
  • Strong expertise in payments, financial services or fintech, banking regulation.
  • Excellent skills in legal documents drafting and negotiation in Italian and English.
  • Ability to work under pressure, effectively prioritise tasks and thrive in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
  • Skilled at dealing with senior management and regulators; highly resourceful and collaborative team player.
  • Fluent Italian and English, other European languages a plus.
