The research activity focuses on the development and validation of acoustic-metamaterial-based solutions for controlling ultrasound propagation and focusing, with particular reference to non-invasive transcranial focusing.
The project integrates the modelling of acoustic-wave propagation in complex media, ultrasound interaction with structures and metasurfaces, leaky-wave engineering, metamaterial design, and spatial control of the ultrasound field.
The research will also include laboratory experiments for manufacturing and validating the developed devices, and for assessing their ability to focus ultrasound under representative conditions.
The selected candidate will also be involved in teaching and laboratory activities in Applied Mechanics for Machines, with particular reference to wave dynamics, vibroacoustics, and acoustic metamaterials.
