A Senior Power Electronics Engineer is sought by Ampere Recruitment for a client at the forefront of medium voltage power conversion. You will lead MVDC converter design from concept to qualification, owning topology selection, simulation, hardware design, and validation while mentoring junior engineers.

You will collaborate with systems, controls, and mechanical teams to deliver robust MVDC solutions and drive technical strategy in a fast-moving environment in Bologna, Italy.

Competenze

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering; MSc/PhD advantageous
• 5+ years in power electronics design, with MV (>3kV DC) experience
• Strong grasp of MV converter topologies, series device operation, insulation design
• Hands-on lab experience with high-voltage test environments and safety
• Experience with SiC and/or high-voltage IGBT platforms
• Comfortable owning designs end-to-end in a fast-moving environment

Mansioni

• Design and develop MVDC converters (DC/DC, AC/DC) at 3kV-35kV
• Topology evaluation and selection for modular multilevel, DAB, ISOP/IPOS
• Simulation and modelling (PLECS, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink)
• Insulation coordination and partial discharge considerations
• Lab prototyping and high-voltage testing
• Support standards compliance (IEC 61800, IEC 62477, IEEE 1709)
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews
