Baker Hughes is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to design, build, and operate AI serving capabilities powering real-time decisioning, document understanding, predictive maintenance, and GenAI use cases. You will lead architecture and delivery, ensure performance, reliability, and cost control while mentoring peers.

Role focuses on production‑grade AI systems, safe rollout strategies, and collaboration with Platform, MLOps, Security, Data, and Product teams.

Competenze

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Experience delivering production‑grade software systems.
• Expertise in Python development.
• Experience with containerized, microservice‑based architectures.
• Strong understanding of API design and versioning. Experience with AWS.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
• Fluent Italian and English; EU permit.

You will play a key role in enabling Baker Hughes’ mission to make energy safer, cleaner, and more efficient through intelligent technologies. As a Lead AI Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of AI serving capabilities that meet strict requirements for performance, reliability, cost control, and operational readiness, while mentoring other engineers and driving consistent engineering standards across teams.

As a Lead AI Engineer, you will also be responsible for:

For Italy: The initial pay range for this position will be EUR 43,600 To 70,000. The provisions of Contratto Collettivo Industria Metalmeccanica e della installazione di impianti will be applied to this position. Section VI – Titolo IV of that collective bargaining agreement relates to pay.
