BWI Group is seeking a Junior Automotive Diagnostic Engineer to join its international R&D team in Torino. You will develop and validate automotive diagnostic functions using UDS, CAN/CAN FD, and embedded software on ECUs.

You will contribute to integration, testing and documentation, while learning ASPICE/MISRA processes and collaborating with cross-functional teams across regions.

Competenze

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering or Computer Science.
• Basic knowledge of C programming and CAN communication.
• Interest in automotive diagnostics and embedded systems.

Mansioni

• Develop and maintain UDS diagnostic functions according to ISO 14229.
• Work on diagnostic services such as Read/Write by Identifier and Security Access.

We are looking for Junior Automotive Diagnostic Engineers who are passionate about automotive technology and interested in developing their career in vehicle diagnostics and embedded systems.

You will join an international R&D team and work on automotive diagnostic functions based on UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services - ISO 14229), CAN communication and embedded software, supporting the development and validation of vehicle electronic systems.

What you will do

As a Junior Automotive Diagnostic Engineer, you will be involved in the development, integration and validation of automotive diagnostic functions.

Your activities will include:

• Develop and maintain UDS diagnostic functions according to ISO 14229
• Work on diagnostic services such as:
• Read/Write Data by Identifier (0x22 / 0x2E)
• Security Access (0x27)
• Communication Control (0x28)
• Routine Control (0x31)
• Request Download / Transfer Data (0x34 / 0x36)
• Read DTC Information (0x19)
• Analyze and troubleshoot diagnostic communication over CAN/CAN FD
• Support the integration and testing of diagnostic software on automotive ECUs
• Analyze diagnostic traces and identify communication or software issues
• Support root-cause analysis of diagnostic problems identified during bench and vehicle testing
• Develop and execute diagnostic test cases
• Support ECU and vehicle-level testing
• Work with automotive communication and diagnostic tools such as Vector CANoe / CANalyzer or equivalent tools
• Analyze CAN messages, diagnostic requests/responses and ECU behavior
• Support the creation and maintenance of diagnostic specifications and documentation
• Collaborate with Software, System, Test and Validation teams
• Support continuous improvement of diagnostic processes, tools and methodologies
• Work according to automotive development processes and quality standards such as ASPICE and MISRA

What we are looking for

We are looking for junior profiles and recent graduates with a strong interest in automotive electronics, embedded software and vehicle diagnostics.

Required

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
• Electronic Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Mechatronics Engineering
• Computer Science
• or equivalent technical field
• Basic knowledge of C programming
• Basic understanding of CAN communication
• Interest in automotive diagnostics and embedded systems
• Analytical and problem-solving mindset
• Ability to work effectively in an international team
• Willingness to learn and develop technical expertise in automotive diagnostics

Nice to have

• Knowledge of UDS / ISO 14229
• Knowledge of ISO 15765 (DoCAN)
• Experience with CANoe, CANalyzer or similar automotive tools
• Knowledge of automotive communication protocols
• Basic knowledge of AUTOSAR
• Knowledge of ASPICE
• Familiarity with DTCs, DIDs, diagnostic sessions and ECU diagnostics
• Academic projects, thesis or internship related to automotive electronics, embedded software or vehicle communication
• Experience with Python or scripting languages for test automation
