A global hospitality company is seeking a Junior Sommelier/F&B Supervisor in Rome. In this role, you will oversee restaurant and bar operations, ensuring top-notch service and maintaining the wine list. Candidates should have 2–4 years of experience in a restaurant, fluency in Italian and English, and eligibility to work in Italy. This position is ideal for those with a passion for hospitality, looking to grow in a dynamic environment, focusing on sustainability and guest satisfaction.

Junior Sommelier / F&B Supervisor

As Junior Sommelier/F&B Supervisor, I will fully comprehend the vision of Six Senses to help people reconnect with themselves, others and the world around them and our values of local sensitivity and global sensibility, crafted experiences, emotional hospitality, responsible and caring, fun and quirky and pioneering wellness.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Review bookings and plan for the smooth department operation during shift.
  • Ensure F&B area is checked prior opening to guests and ensure all area is clean, properly equipped and in a high standard of maintenance.
  • Handle guest feedbacks, inquiries, and comments.
  • Assist in scheduling, training and providing feedback to F&B Host.
  • Supervise the F&B Host’s team.
  • Work with an empathetic attitude.
  • Ensure the prompt and efficient service required by standards.
  • Ensure all mis‑en‑place for restaurant service is correctly prepared prior to opening hour of service.
  • Ensure efficient beverage operation, particularly the wine service, in our retail and restaurant (or any other F&B venues) to provide exceptional products and services within brand operating standards.
  • Ensure that all set policies, procedures, best practices are in place and rigorously enforced.
  • Support the Restaurant and Bar manager and focus on the rejuvenation of the beverage experience. The wine lists and retail will be constantly assessed to remain relevant and in keeping with Six Senses wellness and sustainability practices.
  • Work in partnership with Guest Services, Reservations, and Front Office to ensure guest’s needs are determined /met.
  • Have a full knowledge of menus and specials of all outlets and a good knowledge of the wine list and be able to recommend wine in absence of sommelier. I will have a thorough knowledge of all facilities and services offered by the hotel.
  • Purchasing practices will meet the requirements of the Six Senses sustainability platform, while stocktakes and storage assessment will be undertaken at the required times to ensure all stock is on hand, properly stored and in line with Six Senses standards.
  • Interaction and communications between department/s under my control and other departments within the hotel are clear and effectively maintained to support the smooth running of the hotel. I will perform any additional duties given to me by the Restaurant & Bar manager and/or Director of Food & Beverage.
  • Have a good knowledge of all outlet menus (food and wine) and F&B day to day activities.
  • Have good knowledge of all F&B outlets opening hours.
  • Knowledge on menu prices and suggesting upselling when necessary.
  • Ensure all equipment of the department is kept clean and in good working condition.
  • Upkeep Six Senses guidelines and standards of service and operation. My performance benchmarks are maintained and exceeded.
  • Strictly adhere to LQA standards and guest comments.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2–4 years restaurant experience in a full‑service outlet or similar setting. Hospitality diploma/degree from a recognized hospitality school is preferred.
  • Fluent in Italian and English
  • Eligible to work in Italy
  • Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
