ALTEC S.p.A. seeks an IT System Administrator to join our Information System unit, supporting advanced IT infrastructures for space missions and big data/HPC platforms.

You will monitor, upgrade, and troubleshoot systems, manage servers and storage, and collaborate with the SOC and help desk to ensure reliability and security across the center.

• 1+ years ICT experience and system administration.

We are looking for an IT System Administrator to join our Information System unit. You’ll be part of the team which is responsible for managing the ALTEC advanced IT infrastructures that support the execution of space missions in which the company is involved (International Space Station, Space Rider, Solar Orbiter, ExoMars, and other) and the big data and HPC infrastructure which support Scientific Missions such as GAIA and Euclid.

IT System Administrator responsibilities include monitoring and troubleshooting of system performances, new hardware and software installation and configuration, upgrading, support installation, configuration and test of new center infrastructures and services. To be successful in this role, you should have good knowledge of IT technologies, basic troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience, in particular with datacenter technologies: servers and storage.

Duties

• operate and Maintain IT systems according to established requirements;
• upgrade systems with new releases and models;
• handle business-critical IT tasks and systems;
• monitor datacenter health and perform the necessary troubleshooting to guarantee the best performances, answering to hardware and software issues and outages;
• support installation, configuration and test of new IT infrastructures and services;
• perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly;
• work with the Security Operations Center in order to implement the established security remediation plan, in particular for system patch management;
• interact with the help desk (L1) and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL SKILLS

• 1 or more years of experience covering ICT technologies and system administration; bachelor or master degree in Computer Science or equivalent discipline will also be considered;
• knowledge of best practices for management of datacenter technologies;
• knowledge of servers and technology tools (Linux and Microsoft operative systems also in cluster mode, Kubernetes, container technology, etc.);
• knowledge of Database Administration (MySQL, Oracle, Postgres) at basic level;
• basic knowledge of network protocols and technologies;
• good knowledge of the English language.

SOFT SKILLS

• ability to work in a team;
• effective communication;

ADDITIONAL ASSETS:

• knowledge of programming languages;
• attendance to IT specialization courses (eventually with certification);
• ITIL certifications.

Salary range offered based on skills/experience in line with the required profile: €35,000 – €45,000
