The mission of the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is to provide WFP’s stakeholders assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of WFP’s governance, risk management and control processes aimed at detecting and deterring fraud, waste and abuse through independent and objective oversight activities; to conduct inspections and investigations into allegations of wrongdoing and misconduct; and to facilitate the adoption and implementation of United Nations, humanitarian agency and private-sector best practices related to assurance and oversight.
OIG consists of three functional branches: The Office of Internal Audit (OIGA), which provides independent assurance and advisory services on governance, risk management and internal controls. The Office of Inspections and Investigations (OIGI), which investigates allegations of misconduct, including fraud, corruption and sexual misconduct by WFP employees and partners and conducts inspections into areas of heightened risk. Professional Support Services (PSS), which provides shared analytical, technology, digital forensics, intelligence, administrative and business support services, enabling OIG to operate as an integrated, modern and data-driven oversight function.
This position is located in OIGI’s Intake and Case Development (ICD) unit. ICD is the strategic decision point determining the most appropriate course of action for allegations or concerns reported to OIGI. The Head of Intake serves as the first-level supervisor of the ICD team and reports to the Chief, ICD. Some travel, including to remote field locations, may be required.
The Head of Intake plays a critical strategic role within OIGI, coordinating the ICD team and overseeing the full assessment workflow – from the receipt and early triage of allegations through case prioritisation, preliminary fact‑finding, quality assurance and timely submission for management decision. The incumbent deputises for the Chief, ICD and, in close coordination with the Chief, provides strategic and technical direction on complex, sensitive and high-risk matters; oversees clear, high-quality analysis and recommendations; and ensures outcomes are communicated effectively to relevant stakeholders. The role promotes a timely, consistent and risk-informed intake function, while supporting staff development, sound practice and continuous improvement.
