Job Description

Working under the direct supervision of the pharmacist(s), the pharmacy technician assists in all pharmacy operations' functions related to: (1) preparation & distribution of all doses of medication; (2) maintenance of drug inventories (e.g., restocking automated dispensing cabinets throughout the hospital, drug packaging/re-packaging, extemporaneous compounding, code cart restock, etc.); and (3) completion of patients' records pertaining to drug therapy (aminoglycoside protocol orders, drug charges & credits, etc.).

Responsibilities
  • Assist in all pharmacy operations’ functions related to preparation and distribution of medications.

  • Maintain drug inventories, restock automated dispensing cabinets, handle drug packaging/re-packaging, extemporaneous compounding, and code cart restock.

  • Complete patients’ records pertaining to drug therapy (e.g., aminoglycoside protocol orders, drug charges & credits).

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma required; college-level courses desirable but not required; successful completion of a certified pharmacy technician training program required

Experience:

  • (Preferred) two or more years of experience in a hospital or health system.

Licensures/Certifications:

  • State certification as a Pharmacy Technician (required)
