The position involves research activities in real-time and near-real-time seismic monitoring, ranging from data acquisition to the automatic processing of accelerometric data at regional and national scale. The candidate will be involved in the development and optimization of algorithms for the automatic computation of ground-shaking and seismic source parameters, for the generation of shaking maps, and for the characterization of seismic background noise. This also includes the development of data-driven and probabilistic methods (e.g., neural networks, Bayesian models) for reconstructing shaking fields from sparse data, within the broader framework of applying seismological techniques to applied geophysics purposes. The validation of the developed algorithms through numerical models is also expected. Skills required include the processing of seismological time series, scientific programming, and collaborative source-code management. No teaching or third mission activities are planned.
Supplementary teaching activities, including assistance with theoretical and practical exercises in seismology and applied seismology. Supervision and support of students and degree candidates undertaking theses and internships on seismological topics. Outreach activities aimed at schools and the general public on seismicity and seismic risk. Support for third mission activities organized by the research group
