Role Summary
PeoItaly is hiring on behalf of an anonymous, global construction equipment manufacturer recognized for innovation, reliability, and engineering excellence. As part of the company’s expanding European R&D and product development footprint, we’re seeking a Hydraulics Engineer to join the growing team in Italy and drive next-generation hydraulic systems across multiple product lines.
You will own the design, testing, validation, and optimization of hydraulic systems for heavy off-highway machinery. Working closely with global engineering teams, suppliers, and cross‑functional stakeholders, you’ll ensure performance, durability, and compliance with relevant standards. The role reports to the Head of R&D Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, modeling, and simulation of hydraulic circuits and components for heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, wheel loaders).
- Create and review hydraulic schematics, layouts, and component specifications to meet performance, safety, and reliability targets.
- Support prototype builds, ensuring correct installation and integration of hydraulic systems.
- Plan and execute lab and field tests to validate performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Analyze test data, identify improvements, and ensure compliance with global standards and customer requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during test and production phases.
- Coordinate with global R&D and manufacturing centers to implement engineering changes and updates.
- Provide technical support, training, and documentation to production and service teams.
- Collaborate with suppliers on component selection, validation, and quality initiatives.
- Contribute to innovation in hydraulics, with a focus on energy efficiency, system optimization, and integration with electrified systems.
- Drive cost‑reduction and performance‑enhancement projects using data‑driven methods and design optimization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 5+ years in hydraulic systems engineering within heavy machinery, construction equipment, or off‑highway sectors.
- Proven background in hydraulic system design, simulation, and validation.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic components (pumps, valves, actuators, hoses, filters) and system integration.
- Proficiency with CAD and simulation tools (e.g., CATIA, Creo, or Siemens NX; AMESim or similar).
- Solid understanding of fluid power principles, control systems, and circuit optimization.
- Hands‑on experience with testing and diagnostic tools for hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of international standards / regulations (ISO, SAE, EU Machinery Directive).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with solid project management skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration in cross‑functional, multicultural environments.
- Self‑driven, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 20–30%) to R&D and manufacturing sites across Europe and globally.
- Proficiency in English; Italian or Chinese a plus.
- Valid driving license.
What’s on Offer
- Opportunity to help build and strengthen a European R&D footprint from Italy.
- Competitive compensation package aligned with market benchmarks.
- Exposure to international projects and a global engineering network.
- A dynamic, supportive environment fostering innovation and technical excellence.
