Job summary

Qascom S.r.l. is seeking an experienced System Engineer to lead the System Engineering Competence Center, driving technical excellence across projects and guiding the payload engineering lifecycle from concept to deployment and operations.

The role requires 10+ years in system engineering within space/aerospace/defence, ESA experience, ECSS knowledge, and strong leadership with excellent English communication.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Aerospace, Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years of professional experience in system engineering within space/aerospace/defence sectors.
• Experience in ESA and/or European Space Programmes.
• Strong background in the complete system engineering lifecycle; ECSS knowledge.
• Advanced leadership,Stakeholder management and English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Act as Technical Authority for system engineering disciplines within the company.
• Lead the definition of system architectures for complex space and aerospace systems.
• Oversee requirements engineering, system budgets, trade-off analyses, interface management and verification activities.
• Provide technical guidance during all project phases, from concept through operations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including software, hardware, RF, GNSS, cybersecurity and operations specialists.
• Interface with customers, partners, subcontractors and institutional stakeholders.
• Define verification and validation strategies, plans and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with ECSS standards and customer requirements.

Job description

Qascom is seeking an experienced and highly motivated System Engineer to lead and manage the System Engineering Competence Center, ensuring technical excellence and consistent engineering practices across projects.

The successful candidate will contribute to the full payload engineering lifecycle, from mission concept and requirements engineering through design, testing, qualification, integration, deployment and operations support.

He/She will also establish, maintain, and continuously improve system engineering processes, methodologies, and best practices.

What you will do:

• Act as Technical Authority for system engineering disciplines within the company;
• Lead the definition of system architectures for complex space and aerospace systems;
• Oversee requirements engineering, system budgets, trade-off analyses, interface management, and verification activities;
• Provide technical guidance during all project phases, from concept definition through operations;
• Support critical technical decisions and risk management activities;
• Ensure compliance with ECSS standards and customer requirements;
• Support the preparation and execution of major programme reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, QR, AR);
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams involving software, hardware, RF, GNSS, cybersecurity, and operations specialists;
• Define verification and validation strategies, plans, and procedures;
• Interface with customers, partners, subcontractors, and institutional stakeholders;
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to peers;
• Support project planning, prioritization of technical activities and risk mitigation;
• Act as the technical focal point for internal stakeholders, customers and partners.

Required qualifications, experiences and skills:

• Master’s degree in Aerospace, Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering or equivalent;
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in system engineering within the space,
• aerospace, or defence sectors;
• Experience in ESA and/or European Space Programmes;
• Strong background in the complete system engineering lifecycle;
• Knowledge of Requirements Engineering & ECSS;
• Knowledge of Integration, Verification & Validation:
• RF/GNSS/Telecom Payload Knowledge is desired;
• Technical leadership, stakeholder management, and strong communication and problem-solving skills;
• Advanced professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
