We are looking for the Head of Power Market, who will lead the company’s commercial and market-facing activities in Italy, with responsibility for structuring, negotiating, and closing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), developing market strategies for battery energy storage systems (BESS) and renewable energy such PV and wind, and optimizing the revenue stack across different market routes (DAM, MI, MSD, Capacity Market, MACSE, FER-X etc.).

This senior role requires proven expertise in power trading, origination, and structuring, with a strong understanding of the regulatory and commercial frameworks in Italy and Europe.

The candidate will report directly to the Country Manager and work closely with the development, legal, finance, and technical teams to maximize value creation for the company’s Italian portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Power Market activities in Italy , including market strategy, portfolio optimization, and contract origination (PPA, tolling, capacity agreements).
  • Originate, structure, and negotiate PPAs with corporate offtakers and utilities, ensuring bankable and competitive terms for solar PV, hybrid, and BESS projects.
  • Oversee revenue optimization across different markets : GME (DAM, IDM, MSD, MB), MACSE scheme, Capacity Market, and bilateral contracts.
  • Review and verify Quantitative modelling and algorithmic forecasting : development of price curve–based algorithmic trading models ensuring accuracy, robustness, and consistency across market zones.
  • Lead market intelligence and analysis , monitoring regulatory, commercial, and pricing trends in Italy and wider European markets (Spain, Ireland as reference).
  • Collaborate with development and finance teams to integrate commercial strategies into project development and financing structures (PF, project structuring).
  • Manage and mentor the Power Market team , building capabilities in origination, trading, and risk management.
  • Provide strategic views on new business opportunities (OPS, LNG, hybrid solutions), aligning with the company’s long-term growth strategy.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in power markets, origination, trading, or structuring, with a proven track record in Italy (Spain / Ireland experience a plus).
  • Deep knowledge of the Italian electricity markets (DAM, IDM, MSD, MB), Capacity Market, and new schemes such as MACSE, FER-X.
  • Strong expertise in PPA origination, negotiation, and closing with utilities and corporate offtakers.
  • Background in market advisory firms or consultancies is a plus , reflecting strong market knowledge and client-facing experience.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills to evaluate market, regulatory, and financial risks.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Italian (Spanish is a plus).
  • Leadership skills with ability to build and develop a high-performing team in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
  • Solid understanding of project financing (PF) and the bankability requirements of lenders and investors.
