The ideal candidate will shape the vision for packaging across brands and lead a talented design team. Strong communication skills and the ability to deliver projects within time and cost constraints are essential. This role also requires frequent travel between headquarters and facilities in Veneto.

Your role

We’re looking for a Head of Packaging Design – softgood industry who will create concept pack design, lead materials, and drive core & special‑edition packaging in line with brand identity. The role sets the vision, pushes boundaries, and stays hands‑on with the craft when needed.

Main responsibilities
  • Shape the packaging design vision for all EL brands and evolve the system for future products.
  • Build and lead a world‑class design team that sets a new standard for future projects.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering to make design the strategic driver.
  • Stay close to the craft: ship concepts, refine flows, and oversee details.
  • Work directly with brands to bring a strong design perspective for packaging within the product experience.
  • Visualize creative concepts for core packaging and special editions, focusing on soft case, hard case, and accessories.
  • Define and implement the product development strategy and roadmap for the design pack category across brands.
  • Manage end‑to‑end product development from concept to market launch.
  • Work closely with merchandising and supply chain to deliver products on schedule and within cost targets.
  • Translate market insights, feedback, and performance data into product requirements.
  • Monitor trends, technologies, and materials relevant to the market.
  • Ensure the design team delivers high performance and efficiency.
Main requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Design or related field.
  • 8+ years of product development and design experience.
  • Strong experience in product/packaging design and knowledge of soft and hard case development.
  • Knowledge of textiles, leather, and other luxury materials and how they interact in packaging.
  • Passion for the craft, sketching, prototyping, and problem‑solving.
  • Proven track record of leading design teams, growing talent, and shaping culture.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and product lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to deliver products to market within time and cost constraints.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision‑making abilities.
  • Operational discipline and delivery focus.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Willing to travel frequently between Milan headquarters and the plant in Veneto.
